Bruce was the first boy from "around the way" who 1)owned an expensive 35mm camera. He practiced using it on us at school. 2) wore Izod shirts and topsider shoes 3)went to Boys State and was an eloquent speaker 3) Drove the Gillis' Mercedez Benz station wagon thru the neighborhood w/ me hangin' out the passenger side window. Boy...we thought we were cool. It had to be a short ride because he was delivering someone's medication from the Gillis Drug Store (his part-time job) and picked me up so I could experience a Mercedes. He was such a classy guy! It still seems that he was taken way too soon. I still miss him! Rest in Peace, Bruce. We loved you then, and still do today.
Bruce Givens you know it was just yesterday that you was sharing your dreams of being a politician. You could make us laugh, it was so many times we had to show our proper side..then when we get with ourselves..me, you, Joannie, Portia, Cecelia Q, Ren, FeFe, and Carman, we would cut a rug and just be silly to the max! I remember Bruce as never being afraid to have colorful debates and conversations about .." life and things going on in the world you are not forgotten...R.I.P. Mr. Givens. Van
